Wairau Valley Special school

2017 | Sound Based Playground Installation

A sensory based playground installation for the children at the Wairau Valley Special School. This consisted of a series of tuned pipes that when hit or bounced would create a sonic vibration. The need for this project came out of a lack of relevant playground obstacles that fit the sensory and physical capabilities of the students at the school. The project itself was not solely confined to construction. Part of the project was about running sensory workshops with the students to better understand their needs, and involve them in the project outcome.
